Former Chiefs OC Takes Responsibility for Bruins' Struggles

Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has taken responsibility for UCLA's rocky start to the 2023 season.

After the Bruins' 40-32 loss to the South Alabama Jaguars in their season opener, Bieniemy faced criticism for his play-calling and the team's overall offensive performance.

Bieniemy's Comments

"I'm the offensive coordinator, so I take responsibility for everything that happens on that side of the ball," Bieniemy said. "We didn't execute the way we needed to, and that's on me."

Bieniemy pointed to several areas where the Bruins struggled, including penalties, dropped passes, and poor execution in the red zone.

"We had too many penalties, we dropped too many passes, and we didn't execute in the red zone," Bieniemy said. "Those are all things that we can control, and we need to do a better job of cleaning those things up."

Bruins' Struggles

UCLA's offense has struggled to find its rhythm under Bieniemy's leadership.

In the season opener against South Alabama, the Bruins managed just 32 points and turned the ball over twice.

Bieniemy is known for his innovative offensive schemes, but he has yet to find the right formula for the Bruins.

Despite the rocky start, Bieniemy remains confident that the Bruins can turn things around.

He said the team is working hard to correct its mistakes and improve its execution.

"We're going to learn from our mistakes and get better," Bieniemy said. "We have a lot of talent on this team, and I believe in these guys. We're going to get this thing turned around."
