Daryl Gurney reaches last 16 with impressive World Championship display
Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney is through to the last 16 at the PDC World Championship after a battling 3-1 victory over Steve Beaton.
The Derry man hit two of the best checkouts of his career to fend off Beaton and advance to the fourth round for the second time in his career.
Gurney, who matched his best previous showing at the World Championship, made a strong start to the match, taking the first set 3-0 with a 108 checkout.
Beaton hit back in the second set, taking it 3-1, but Gurney regained control in the third, hitting a 170 checkout on his way to a 3-1 victory.
The Northern Irishman then sealed his victory in the fourth set, hitting a 116 checkout to take the match 3-1.
