Producing Animated GIFs in Photoshop CS6 CC
Here I will show how it's possible to create basic Animated GIFs in Photoshop CS6 CC. Adobe Photoshop has a powerful animation engine that makes it easy to create animated GIFs.
In order to follow along, you'll need Photoshop CS6 or later. If you don't have Photoshop, you can download a free trial from the Adobe website.
Once you have Photoshop open, begin by importing a series of image frames into a new document. You may need to create each frame in a separate document and import them individually or you can use auto-layering features to consolidate. Go to:
File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack
Choose your sequence of images in order and they will auto-import as a layered document.
Next, you'll need to create a new timeline animation. To do this, go to:
Window > Timeline
The Timeline panel will appear at the bottom of the Photoshop window. Click the "Create Frame Animation" button in the Timeline panel.
Now, you can add the frames for your animation to your timeline. To do this, select a frame in the Timeline panel and then click the "New Frame" button.
You can also use the Timeline panel to set the duration of each frame and the speed of the animation. To do this, select a frame in timeline panel and then enter a value Duration (seconds) field. The default duration is 1 second.
Once you've added all of your frames and set the duration, you can preview the animation by clicking the "Play" button in the Timeline panel.
When you're satisfied with your animation, you can save it as a GIF file. To do this, go to:
File > Save for Web & Devices
In the Save for Web & Devices dialog box, select the "GIF" option from the "File Format" drop-down menu. Then, click the "Save" button.
That's it! You've now created an animated GIF in Photoshop.
